About Jake R DogJake was born in Phoenix, AZ around January 1995. We adopted him from
PetsMart in August 1995.
The Story: David saw this little brown puppy at Petsmart and instantly wanted him. The adoption people said a lady should be on her way back to get him. David quickly ran over to a ATM at the local bank and withdrew money so he could get him. He made it back and was able to get Jake (the lady never came back).

Jake was a very good puppy. Although he loved to be around people, he cried and paced whenever you left him alone. In fact, we setup a camera one day in the condo to watch what he did, while we were at work. From morning until the time we got back he paced and whined from room to room while we were at work. Then when we got home he would sleep (from so much exercise).

Jake was a very quiet dog. He would often be in the room with you and you would hardly know he was there. He was very content with cuddling, laying next to you or just being in the room with you. He would follow you around everywhere you went in the house.

When we sold our old house on Tonopah in Glendale, AZ we couldn't have dog's at the rental. So Mike and Lois decided they would keep Jake for 8 months that we would be in the rental house. Jake became very comfortable at Mike and Lois's place. But we would occasionally bring him to the rental and let him see the new house as it was being built.

Jake became a regular resident of Mike and Lois's from October 2003 through April 2004. As you can see he made himself cozy in Mike's chair and on his favorite Suns blanket which was usually placed on the leather couch. He also love to go in the back yard looking for rabbits, quail and anything else he could get into. The quail and rabbits didn't stick around long, even though he never caught one.

While Jake was away at Mike and Lois's, Bosco and Casey were up in Northern Arizona. In April 2004 we were able to bring all the dogs back down together and moved into the new house.

Jake quickly adapted to the new house with lots of new rooms and areas to call his own. As you can see he had many different sleeping places but he always wanted to be around people. (Not just for the food).

Jake even got into the festivities around Christmas time. Every year Jake would go over to Mike and Lois's for Thanksgiving and Christmas to visit with family and friends. One year he even was dressed up as Santa to deliver some special gifts to Maxine.

Even though Jake loved being outdoors, he hated the water. We made him go in to get used to it and make sure he would know how to get out, but he didn't enjoy it at all. As soon as he would get out of the pool, he would keep tabs on everyone trying to stay away from them so he would not get thrown back into the pool.

Whenver I was away on business trips, he would be excited for me to come home. He would usually let out a single "woof" to greet me. I would usually get images like these sent to my phone while I was gone so I could see how he was doing.

Jake will be missed by many but not forgotten.
